Labels and label printers

Set your label size, choose what goes on each label, and print shelf labels and hold tags, with one-click printing on a DYMO.

OnSite prints labels for repairs, parts, used devices, loaner phones and bought devices on hold. Every label lays itself out to fit the labels in your printer, so you set the size once and everything fits.

Owners and managers set up labels in Settings › Labels.

Set your label size

  1. Open Settings › Labels.
  2. Under Labels in the printer, pick the labels you use.
  3. For a size that isn't listed, pick Another size and enter the Width (inches), the long side, and the Height (inches).
  4. Select Save labels.

The list covers DYMO 30252 address (1⅛ × 3½ in), DYMO 30334 multipurpose (1¼ × 2¼ in), DYMO 30336 small multipurpose (1 × 2⅛ in), Brother DK-1201 address (29 × 90 mm), Brother DK-2205 continuous cut at 100 mm, and Zebra or Rollo labels at 2¼ × 1¼ in or 2 × 1 in.

A DYMO LabelWriter 550 only takes DYMO's own labels. For a Brother or Zebra, set the same label size in the printer's own settings once.

What goes on each label

The page shows a preview of each kind at about true size. Select Test print on any of them to try it (save your changes first).

  • Repair: number, customer, device, and a QR code to the device page.
  • Part: name, price and the SKU as a barcode the register scans. A part with no SKU gets no barcode.
  • Used device: what it is, its price, and the UD number to scan at the register.
  • Loaner phone: asset tag, name and IMEI, with a QR code to the loaner's page.
  • Hold tag (bought devices): the UD number, the hold date and the buy number. No seller's name.

Turn off Show the price on part labels if your prices change more often than your labels.

  • A part: open it, enter how many in Labels and select Print labels. After Add to stock, the number fills in with how many arrived.
  • A used device: open it and select Print label.
  • A bought device on hold: select Print hold tag on the device or its buy.
  • A delivery: after you receive a purchase order, the confirmation offers a label for each part that went on the shelf.

Labels open in a new tab and the print window opens, with one label to a page. Several labels print as one job.

One-click printing on a DYMO

With a DYMO label printer, you can skip the print window. This is set up on each computer, since each counter has its own printer.

  1. On the computer with the DYMO, install DYMO Connect for Desktop from dymo.com and open it once.
  2. In OnSite, open Settings › Labels. The This computer card looks for it. Select Check again if it says it isn't running.
  3. If your browser asks to let OnSite reach other apps on this device, allow it.
  4. Pick your Label printer.
  5. Turn on Print labels without the print window.
  6. Select Print a test label.

From then on, labels on that computer go straight to the DYMO. If the DYMO doesn't answer, the print window opens instead.

Note: One-click printing needs one of the DYMO label sizes. Brother, Zebra and other sizes print from the print window, which works with any label printer.
