Buying devices settings

Set how long bought devices are held, the bonus for taking store credit, and the price list your counter's offers start from.

Settings › Buying devices sets the rules for buying devices from customers: the hold, the store credit bonus and your buy prices. Owners and managers can change it.

Hold for (days)

How long a bought device stays on hold before you can sell it, return it or scrap it. It starts at 45 days, which is what Edmonton's bylaw asks for. Check what your city asks, and enter 0 if it has no hold. The most is 180 days.

A new hold length applies to devices bought from then on. Devices already on hold keep their date.

Store credit bonus (%)

The extra a seller gets when they take store credit instead of money. It starts at 10%: a $100 offer becomes $110 of credit. The bonus also applies to trade-ins. Enter 0 for no bonus.

Buy prices

The price list is what you pay for each model in each condition. At the counter, the offer starts from it, and the condition buttons show each grade's price.

  1. Select Add a model.
  2. Pick the Kind, and enter the Make and Model, such as Apple and iPhone 13.
  3. Enter the Storage for a price that depends on it, or leave it blank for any storage.
  4. Enter a price for each grade, A to D. Leave a grade blank where you don't buy in that condition.
  5. Select Save buying devices.

When staff buy a device, OnSite looks for a row with the same make, model and storage. If there isn't one, it uses that model's row with no storage. Capitals and spaces don't matter. A model that isn't on the list says Not on the price list, and the counter types an offer.

Each row needs a make and a model, and each make, model and storage can only appear once. Select the bin beside a row to remove it.

Who can pay more

The front desk can offer up to the list's price for the model and condition. Owners and managers can pay more, and can set a selling price while buying.

Show these prices on your website

Turn this on to post your price list on a "What's my device worth?" page that customers can open from your website. It's off until you turn it on. See What's my device worth?.
