Import a spreadsheet
Bring customers, their devices or parts into OnSite from a CSV file saved by any other software.
Whatever you used before, you can bring your customers, their devices and your parts into OnSite from a spreadsheet. Only the store's owner can import. It's in Settings › Import from other software, under Import a spreadsheet.
Customers already in OnSite (matched by phone) and parts already in OnSite (matched by SKU) are skipped, so it's safe to import into a store you're already using.
Save your spreadsheet as CSV
- In Excel, use File › Save As and choose CSV.
- In Google Sheets, use File › Download › CSV.
Most repair and point-of-sale software can export a CSV directly.
Import it
- Go to Settings › Import from other software and scroll to Import a spreadsheet.
- Choose what's in the file: Customers, Their devices or Parts.
- For parts, choose whether These are parts used in repairs or sold at the counter.
- Select Choose a CSV file and pick your file.
- Under Its columns, as OnSite's, check each OnSite field is matched to the right column. OnSite matches them by heading for you. Choose Not in the file for anything you don't have. Fields marked with * are needed.
- Select Preview.
- Look over What would happen: how many rows Come over, how many are Already here, skipped, and how many Won't come over, with the reason for each.
- Fix the file or the column matches if you need to, then select Preview again.
- Select Import to bring the rows in.
Customers
A Phone is needed for each customer. You can bring a first and last name or a full name, a company, another phone, an email, an address and notes. Notes are pinned on the customer.
Devices
Import your customers first. Each device finds its customer by the Customer's phone in its row. You can bring the kind of device, make, model, serial or IMEI, colour, storage and carrier. If the kind is blank, OnSite guesses it from the name.
Parts
A Name is needed for each part. You can also bring the SKU, category, description, make, model number, cost, price, the quantity On hand and a Reorder at level. A row with a SKU already in OnSite is skipped.
To work with your parts once they're in, see Parts and stock.
